Begins the story on September 25, 1632, when a detachment of the Yenisei centurion Peter Beketov, examining the banks of the Lena River, laid the Yakutsk (Lensky) prison on the right bank of the river 70 km downstream from the location of modern Yakutsk. In the years 1642-1643 the prison was moved to a modern place. Yakutsk renamed in 1643.
