On behalf of the Russian Wrestling Federation, I welcome the participants, guests, and organizers of the World Cup in freestyle wrestling.
Eight years later, the main team tournament in the wrestling calendar returns to Russia. For almost half a century, this tournament has been held on the territory of our country only five times. In 1992, the strongest teams of the world met in Moscow, in 2007 the tournament was held in Krasnoyarsk. A year later, Vladikavkaz took over the baton, and in 2010 and 2011, the city of Moscow and Makhachkala became the hosts of the World Cup. Each of these tournaments received the highest marks from the International Federation of Combined Styles of Wrestling and became a guideline in the organization of wrestling team competitions.
The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), which has always been, is and remains a source of personnel for the Russian team, will host such a significant competition for the first time in its history. Here love and appreciate the fight. The people of Sakha have a glorious wrestling history and victorious traditions. Every year in the city of Yakutsk, under the auspices of the United World of struggle with a large scale, international tournaments are held in memory of the great coach Dmitry Korkin and the famous wrestler Roman Dmitriev. And I believe that residents of the northern republic and numerous fans of freestyle wrestling now deserve to see firsthand the confrontation between the eight strongest national teams of the world on the carpets of Yakutsk.
At the same time, the elite status of the tournament makes very serious demands on the organizers, but we are deeply convinced that together we will cope with the tasks and hold the World Cup at the highest organizational level.
Dear participants of the tournament, I wish you honest and noble fights, unforgettable moments and beautiful victories, new sports feats. Let the best win!
