Dear friends!

On behalf of the multinational Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), I am wholeheartedly welcome the participants, organizers and guests of the World Cup in freestyle wrestling!

For the first time in history, a world-wide freestyle wrestling tournament will be held in the city of Yakutsk. This is the most important sporting event for Yakutia and the Far East, for our entire Russia, a great honor and a huge responsibility for us!

The national teams of the eight major wrestling powers of the world: Russia, USA, Iran, Cuba, Japan, Turkey, Georgia and Mongolia will take part in the 2019 World Cup. We are proud that the strongest fighters of the planet, sports leaders, coaches, fans from many countries will gather in Yakutia. Holding the World Cup in Yakutsk will confirm that our republic is one of the world centers for the development of free-style wrestling.

We perceive this tournament as a sign of respect for Yakutia and recognition of the merits of our outstanding fighters. The Yakut school of free-style wrestling, at the origins of which stood the great coach Dmitry Korkin and his students - Olympians Roman Dmitriev, Pavel Pinigin, Alexander Ivanov, and other famous modern fighters, is known far beyond Russia.

The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is one of the leading sports regions of Russia, and the wrestling for Yakutian is more than sports. This is an integral part of the culture and traditions of the peoples living in our harsh northern region. We organize world-class competitions in Yakutsk, first of all, for our devoted fans of free-style wrestling. There are few places in the world where people like free wrestling as much as in Yakutia. Our fans deserve such a gift!

I am sure that the World Cup will be held in a fair and uncompromising wrestling, will become a real celebration of sport and friendship!

I sincerely wish the participants of the tournament good luck on the Yakut carpet. Let the strongest team win!
